The lunch bell rang, and soon all of the famished students issued out into the halls with lunch boxes in hand and moved onwards to an eating place. Marin and Moe headed to the rooftop where they agreed to discuss the highlights of the fallen ampoule.

…Though it certainly was hard to touch the topic—and both girls started on their packed lunch in silence. Marin ate out of plywood bento with chopsticks Onando had carved especially for her needs and in it the Momoi triplets stuffed a triple of everything present, not even shying away from sweets. (Today was a handful of branded jelly beans from the stash president Richard Nixon of the United States had given her as an extra token of appreciation to her service for the earth.) Moe had a neat pink little pink plastic box with a print of cute ducklings across the lid complete with a tiny fork and spoon set.

It was not until Marin heard a small whimper from Moe is when they began to talk.

“Aw…Moe, don’t feel sad…we get to hang out together now remember? I’m sure things will still get better.”

This proved unhelpful as Moe lifted a hand over her mouth to suppress tears. “I-I know! It’s just it makes me worry all the time. Finally, things start to return to normal but it seems far from over…”

It was difficult for Marin to reply since no other statement felt so spot-on. She wholeheartedly agreed. It would be a lie to say that she wasn’t crushed by the sudden interruption of newfound happiness. It was short-lived and though it was highly appreciated, it wasn’t satisfying when compared to all the hardships she faced leading up to here.

“Hey…you know what? You’re absolutely right. Things may never go back the same way ever again, but Melan told me to not worry—and this time I’ll believe in him. Remember? That’s what you told me to do last time…So let’s trust him together!”

At this, Moe wiped any sneaky tears, and let out a simper. “Yeah…you’re right.” And for a moment—just a moment—it felt that all was well. The two managed to giggle a bit, and Marin raised her head towards the sky that was oh so bl—PINK?

Yes—a tiny dot with a pink shade descended from the sky—but whatever it was she couldn’t make out as it skidded away towards the east.

Ok, so maybe it wasn’t murder monomakia Dollon—but this made her worries escalate all the more.

Court was in session.

After Lolo and Lala scurried to their seats, the meeting of the entire Central Assembly had begun.

Lolo looked about, and quickly observed that their numbers have been reduced to half. Many lives were lost in the struggle it seemed, and countless members of the assembly have been hospitalized. Though Cries had the power to resurrect the fallen, their bodies were not completely healed—merely life was breathed back into the battered body.

An echo of the judge hammer rang forth and the routine cries of silence were issued at Lili’s (a yellow chairman and head of the Central Assembly) command.

“Everyone, we are brought here today in the event of an emergency. I would like to take this as an opportunity to apologize for disrupting your peace especially since we had just got through complete disaster. However, our duty calls as we may seem to be in face of a new threat. Chairman of the Ecology Maintenance Committee, please rise!”

“Yes!” Lala affirmed as the monomakia Horan and Horan-Ane were propped upon the central stage. “With my salvaged models of these monomakia, the very ones that recorded the events on Earth, they have also received data from Brigadoon and the Funny World right before they drifted too apart! And it reveals…”

An image flashed upon the screen of Horan—showing a dark abyss and a shiny object pushed by a blue speck fall through it only to reappear in a backdrop of open blue with wispy clouds.

“…Kuston Brown’s ampoule falling inside a broken rift and down to Earth!!”

Murmurs arose from the attendees of the meeting, and Lili hushed for silence once again. Then another chairman spoke out. “What does this mean?”

“Please request upon permission to speak!” Lili barked. “Currently, we cannot discern what form of threat this serves. After all, the Gunswordsman is formally locked within his ampoule and cannot escape without the help of Cries—is that correct?”

Lala nodded, and replied “While he is caged within one of his own forms of biological structures, if he were to be released then we have no idea what he knows. Witnesses may claim that he was brainwashed by the Hensu-chi who is revealed to be none other than our own Chairman of the Space and Time Observation committee, but we don’t know if this is the case. Sources may also point to the fact that he may have been built as a drone from the start and if this is true then he may wreak havoc upon destroying earth!”

Murmurs rose again, and again they were silenced. Lala continued.

“This is a gigantic issue to simply toss aside, and I propose proper action! The fact also remains that Lulu is still alive with Armaton Cross in hand. With Brigadoon and Earth’s weakened state, he may have found an opportunity to strike! Luckily, I have dispatched the Gunswordsman to protect key essentials—the unstable rift presented here and Marine!”

Then all of a sudden, the hall reverberated by a shout. “THIS IS HORRIBLE!!”

The entire hall turned to the source of the noise. Through a newly opened entrance, a Brigadoonian chairman stood panting. He bore pale mint-green fur and accessorized with swirl-lens glasses. Upon his upper lip grew a long, curly mustache and the likes were duplicated on his chin. His hair on top of his head curled in a similar matching fashion.

Lili, able to see at both sides of her head, quickly identified him and replied. “Chairman of the Civilian Security Surveillance Committee—Zulu! Were you not assigned to keep watch upon the rift? What has happened?”

After Zulu regained his breath, he replied. “We’re in trouble!! The…the rift! GUNSWORDSMAN ERIN GARNET HAS GONE THROUGH THE RIFT!!”
I'm compelled to post this tiny update due to the lack of a chapter recently! In actuality--I have more written than this, but it's taking me forever to finish since I find it so hard to write Gunswordsman without butchering their character. 6_9 And I still have to find out how to advance the story beyond this point.

ERIN, YOU GO GIRL. :D

I can't wait to see how you write her and I really look forward to what happens next!

...I also really hope Kuston isn't a drone. D: Though the way he talks sorta actually make it seem like he is one at times... ;3;
