CES Doodles and Tests

I’ve been addicted to listening to this song and found it quite the matching image for my project Cogito Ergo Sum. (For future reference: CES.) Thank you DQ, thank you for this wonderful song accompanying that nice opening you have there.

Anyway, here are some more practice doodles. Trying out colors. Trying out compositions. Trying out backgrounds. Trying not to rip my hair out. I’m surprised, absolutely nothing I wish to draw concerning these two ever seem to turn out the slightest bit decent compared to the image I have in my head. .-. Why are they so hard to draw…I’m also very undecided on their final designs, more specifically Isidore’s suspenders and Ken’s jacket.

As of late, I’ve been heavily inspired by music and the sun and I wish to present such radiance through my art but I keep failing. Ah, well, as they say—practice makes perfect! (I’ll also apologize for the repetitive images on this dump—as you can see I was toying with coloring certain techniques. And the overall absence of Ken is because I’m trying to perfect Isidore cause she’s tough.)

ALSO UH. That empty space in the bottom left corner?? I planned to insert another picture but I made the mistake of drawing in on my notes and TURNED IT IN soooo...D: It'll pop up soon once I get them back @_@

By this point (and everyday in fact) I’ve been heavily thinking and developing the story between these two, and I believe I have the premise and theme down. But considering how uneducated I am at overall writing and storytelling in general, they may more or less be subject to alterations. But hopefully the ending I have in mind will stay that way it is. (Pixar spilled some useful tips for storytelling where you must come up with ending first so that you may reach it as a goal, and that’s something I’d love to try.)

I’m also struggling to not make my characters so personal—meaning that I try for them not to so much as be reflections of me as little as possible. I just believe that these calls for rather weak storytelling—however certain formulas may work, most beginners take a rather predictable route concerning their characters.

Welp, I still have years ahead of me, so who knows when this silly but hopefully rather interesting or even enlightening story will come to fruition?
